March 17, 2019. remember this date, This date has been registered in Indian history.
India becomes the 4th country in the world, who successfully tested its own Anti-satellite missiles (ASAT) and have a capability of ASAT.
Indian ASAT is designed and developed by a India Government owned company named DRDO (Defence Research and Development Organisation).
Another 3 countries are America (1985), Russia (1970) and Chaina (2007) and now INDIA (2019).
On March 17, Indian PM Narandra Modi announced launch of the country’s first Missile.
In this India a live test satellite at 300 km altitude in Low Earth Orbit (LEO).
What is Anti-Satellite missile or weapon (ASAT)
weapon is the full form of ASAT, ASAT used to destroy any satellite for any military purpose, like if any other country spying on us by there satellite then ASAT can knock down or destroy that satellite.
ASAT can be deployed in two ways, either be space-to-space or ground-to space.
Why ASAT is so difficult to test
As you can see in the above image, thousands of satellite have been deployed in earth orbits and its increasing year by year.
As we know these satellite are revoliving around earth with high speed and earth also have it’s own revolving speed,
so you can imagin, how much to target and a satellite without even disturbing any other satellite.
